SALT & CO. COOKING SCHOOL Fitzgerald Street, Northbridge

project BLAK in collaboration with SPACESCAN were asked to plan and design a cooking school in an old warehouse space.

When we first walked into the building it had old office wall partitioning, suspended grid ceilings, non compliant toilets and a small vintage kitchenette. We had some fun stripping back the space, opening it up to reveal the scale and character of the building. Beautiful raked jarrah beams, high light filled windows and original exposed concrete floors became the base structure and inspiration for the fit out.

Our brief was to design a main master cooking bench including a teachers station and 2 student stations with ample viewing and prep space, a dual back prep bench, storage and refrigeration space, student wash stations, back of house wash and prep space, larder, office, a compliant entrance and a communal dining room.
